About this studio
The Dance Teacher is a boutique studio in Orlando founded in 1985 by Nancy Stewart, who holds a B.A. in Dance Pedagogy and is certified in Autism Movement Therapy. The studio's philosophy is intentional, expressive, and rooted in meaningful connection, where every class blends technique, care, and the joy of movement.
Classes begin at age 2½ with Preschool Dance, offering creative movement and fun for the littlest dancers. Creative Movement (ages 4–5½) teaches ballet fundamentals through play, while Exploring Dance (ages 5–7) is a supportive class where young dancers explore a variety of age-appropriate dance styles built on a strong ballet-based foundation that develops coordination, musicality, and expressive confidence. Ballet & Beyond (ages 7–10) combines classical technique with barre and center work, blended with age-appropriate contemporary to help dancers grow strong, expressive, and confident.
Tween and teen dancers can join the performing-arts foundation program, which offers focused training in ballet, jazz, and musical theater. Pointe is available for dedicated dancers, introduced safely with individualized readiness assessment. Adult classes cover ballet, modern, jazz, tap and dance fitness.
Beyond studio classes, The Dance Teacher runs After-School Enrichment programmes on-site at local schools as an approved OCPS vendor, and offers a Homeschool Group Program with daytime dance classes for local homeschool groups and co-ops. The studio also provides Customized On-Site Adult Day Training Programs, including adaptive movement classes for adults with varying exceptionalities and seniors — sensory-friendly, joyful, and tailored to each group's abilities and needs.
