About this studio
Dancebox Studio is located at 2719 S MacDill Ave in South Tampa and serves both adult and youth dancers. The studio is committed to providing superior dance and performing arts education with an emphasis on technique and artistry. They foster a community that embraces individuality, creativity and discipline, cultivating young dancers from their first steps through pre-professional training.
The youth programme offers classes for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to intermediate and advanced dancers. Classes are available for students ages 3 and up. The 2026–2027 season runs from Monday, August 17th through mid-June, with registration ongoing throughout the season; new students are accepted through April 15th. The studio also runs a summer programme.
Adult classes are open drop-in classes with no required commitment, so you can join at any time during the year. All adult classes are 60–75 minutes and include a full body warm-up and dynamic stretch, across-the-floor work, barre or centre work as applicable, and short combinations or choreography. The studio emphasises real technique teaching in a pressure-free, judgement-free environment. Adult classes welcome dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals. The studio particularly encourages beginners to try Beginning level classes or Absolute Beginner pop-up classes.
The faculty includes Corinne Colon (Founder and Artistic Director, M.A. in Dance Education from NYU Steinhardt, former adjunct professor at University of Tampa 2013–2017, former NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleader, certified in the Simonson Method of Teacher Training); Sasha Alvarez (B.F.A from Point Park University, trained at prestigious summer programmes including Nederlands Dans Theatre, ABT, Alonzo King Lines Ballet, and performed with Helen Simoneau Danse, Hammerstep NYC, and Parsons Dance Company; also a 200hr RYTT certified Power Vinyasa yoga teacher); Kristen Downard (competitive gymnast background, cheerleader for Virginia Tech and NFL teams, school counselor and CASA member); Paul Finocchiaro (M.F.A, 17-year career in Musical Theatre including national tours of West Side Story, Gypsy and other productions, currently Professor of Theatre & Dance at University of Tampa); Alexis Carra Girbes (B.A. from Yale University, Broadway credits including Wicked, Fosse, Sweet Charity, and The Pirate Queen, television appearances on Grey's Anatomy, NCIS and other shows, choreography featured on Discovery Channel, Bravo and HBO); and Kristen Green (2019 USF graduate with degrees in Health Sciences and Dance, completed Artistic Residency with Sarasota Contemporary Dance Company).
The studio offers studio rentals for rehearsal, birthday parties or private events, and hosts birthday parties. Hours are Monday–Thursday 4pm–9:30pm, and Saturday 9am–1pm.

No street shoes allowed in the studio. For jazz and contemporary, you can dance barefoot or wear socks, jazz shoes or jazz sneakers. Tap shoes are highly recommended for tap classes; ballet shoes are recommended for ballet classes.
