Julia's Performing Arts

Julia's Performing Arts is a children's dance studio in Reno run by Julia Cholico, an Executive Creative Director and Associate Teacher with an international performing background. Julia started dancing at age 9 at The Yvonne Dearman Academy of Performing Arts and completed all dance grades through The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. She went on to graduate from the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London with a degree in Musical Theatre Arts.

Julia's professional career took her across the world performing in major stage productions including The Ratpack, Rock Around the Clock, One World, and multiple productions of The Spirit of Christmas and Spirit of the Dance—the show that eventually brought her to Reno. She has also performed on cruise ships and in UK pantomimes. At Julia's Performing Arts, she brings that wealth of experience to teaching children through music and dance, building well-rounded confident kids with a foundation for success.

The studio teaches a broad range of dance styles including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Irish, Ballroom, and Latin American dance, as well as Voice, Acting, and Musical Theatre. Class offerings range from Tiny Tots Intro to Dance—designed for a child's first introduction to dance and musicality using props and music—through Beginner Ballet & Tap for Tots, which introduces classical ballet positions and basic tap technique. Beginner Jazz focuses on jazz positions, turns, jumps, leaps, and terminology, while Beginner Hip Hop emphasizes rhythm, musicality, and individual expression with kid-friendly music.

Musical Theatre classes are jazz-based, incorporating Broadway-style dancing and music with an emphasis on performance skills such as connecting with the audience, singing, and facial expressions. The studio also runs TikTok dance classes where children learn and recreate famous TikTok dances in a safe environment that encourages self-expression. The studio can be booked for parties and special events.

Classes are structured to be fun and thorough, with warm-ups, progressions, combinations, and stretching tailored to each level. You'll find a welcoming environment where children are introduced to dance fundamentals through music, movement, and props.

Julia Cholico is the Executive Creative Director and Associate Teacher. Born and raised in London, she trained at The Yvonne Dearman Academy of Performing Arts and the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, and performed in major international productions before moving to Reno.

The studio specializes in teaching children and offers dedicated beginner classes across multiple styles, with introductory Tiny Tots and Ballet & Tap for Tots programmes.
