About this studio
rumPUREE opened in 2006 as Thailand's first dance studio dedicated to world dances. The name comes from "Rum" (Thai for dances) and "Puree" (Sanskrit for city), reflecting the studio's mission to make diverse dance forms accessible to people in Bangkok.
The Asok branch offers an exceptionally broad range of styles across five categories. Classical dance includes ballet and contemporary. Ethnic dance covers bellydance, Thai dance, and Bollywood. Social dance focuses on New York Salsa, Argentine Tango, Bachata, and Salsa Styling. Popular dance spans hip hop, music video dance, cover dance, striptease, street jazz, dancehall, and Broadway jazz. Dance workout and fitness classes include Zumba, pole dance, dance workout, headstand and handstand, mat pilates, strength and flexibility, and target zone work.
Classes run throughout the week at different times, with levels from Introduction (absolute beginners) through Advanced. The studio offers full course sequences (typically 6 or 12 weeks) in popular styles like Salsa On 2, Bachata Sensual, and Argentine Tango, as well as drop-in options. Specialist workshops appear alongside regular technique classes—for example, Argentine Tango workshops focus on tools for dancing in milongas. The studio also hosts social dancing events: Salsa Bangkok Party on Friday evenings and El Abrazo parties on Sunday afternoons.
The faculty includes named instructors across all disciplines. Saturday mornings bring concentrated offerings in salsa, bachata, and ballet at multiple levels. The studio maintains a clear levelling system that encourages beginners to start on recommended dates and complete full cycles to build solid foundations, while higher levels require instructor permission.
