About this studio
Silver Dance Studio, opened in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Sven and Priscilla Juur, specializes in private and semi-private ballroom and Latin dance instruction. Sven, the lead instructor and owner, is a former 10-Dance Champion with over 28 years in competitive ballroom dance. He has competed in over 100 International competitions across 18 countries and holds certifications in International Style Ballroom and Latin, American Style Smooth and Rhythm, Nightclub, Latin social dances, and country western dances. Sven is a certified instructor and adjudicator recognized by the United States Terpsichore Association, Pro DVIDA, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Finnish Sport Dance Association, Estonian Dance Sport Association, and the Estonian Olympic Committee. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Choreography and Dance from Europe and has directed and choreographed numerous musical theater productions including Kiss Me Kate, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Aladdin Jr., Dracula the Musical, Grease, Man Of La Mancha, 42nd Street, Annie, and Cinderella.
The studio offers private lessons, couple lessons, group classes, competitive training, performances, social dancing, and custom choreography for special occasions and wedding dances. All lessons are 45 minutes long. You do not need a partner to begin. The studio teaches ten International Ballroom dances (Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Samba, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive), nine American style ballroom dances (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, and Mambo), and Nightclub and Latin social dances including Hustle, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Two Step.
Sven's students have achieved remarkable success, becoming finalists in the prestigious Blackpool International Ballroom Dance Competition. The studio has earned numerous national pro/am dance competition victories and prestigious awards. Notable achievements include: San Francisco Open 2nd place top teacher, 2010 Tampa Bay Classic 2nd place top teacher, 2014 St. Pete Classic 2nd place top teacher, 2014 Ft. Lauderdale Classic 1st place top teacher, 2014 The Florida Series 1st place top teacher, 2014 Las Vegas Holiday Classic 6th place top teacher, 2014 First Coast Classic 6th place top teacher, North Florida Dance Challenge 2nd place top teacher, 2014 Ballroom Blitz 1st place top studio, 2015 The Florida Classic Series 1st place top small studio and 4th place top teacher, 2016 Triple Crown Dance Sport South Eastern Dance Championships 1st place Top small studio and 6th place top teacher, 2016 Triple Crown New Orleans Top studio and top teacher, and 2017 The Florida Classic Series 2nd place top studio and 1st place top teacher.
Private lessons are tailored to your abilities and learning style, with detailed instruction in technique, character, and styling. The studio welcomes students of all levels and ages, and private instruction is especially suited to those who prefer more privacy, flexibility, and efficiency—or who are shy and uncomfortable with their current dance skills. Group classes and dance parties are available once you feel comfortable with your skills. Priscilla brings enthusiasm for social dancing, performing, and community connection alongside her business management experience.
