About this studio

DanceArts Miami teaches dance to adults across a remarkable range of styles: salsa, bachata, merengue, ballroom (International and American), Argentine tango, hip hop, street jazz, contemporary, ballet, swing, tap, flamenco, reggaeton, burlesque, heels, Afrobeats, and GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS®. The studio also offers club Latin, Broadway jazz, jazz fusion, Bollywood, and Pilates. Classes run daily from 12:30pm to 10pm (Sunday by appointment), with both drop-in and membership options available.

The studio was founded by Dmitry Krasnyanskiy and Esther Francés. Dmitry was born in Moscow and began ballroom dancing at age seven, competing in over 100 national and international competitions. He became a 2003 International Dance Union World Champion and 2004 Vice World Champion, and earned the Fred Astaire Top Teacher Award. Esther was born in Houston and trained in classical ballet and piano for over 20 years before earning a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami. She is a professional Ballroom and Latin dance competitor and instructor with 19 years of teaching experience, winning the 2019 American Smooth title at Ballroom Raymi and the 2018 American Rhythm title in Venice, Italy. Both continue to compete internationally in the American Ballroom Smooth style together while teaching at the studio.

The teaching faculty includes Napoleon Hugues (all ballroom, Latin, salsa, bachata, and club styles, as well as Argentine Tango; started dance at age 5 in Haiti and won first place in the 2007 AJFH competition in Latin Dance); Steven Aportela (contemporary); Sandra Acosta (salsa, bachata, jazz, American Smooth and Rhythm, with 18 years of experience as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and performer; completed a degree in physical education and sports training in Mexico); Teresa Garcia (New York Salsa Champion at age 19, trained under Maksim Chmerkovskiy, taught at his studios for over seven years, completed professional training at Broadway Dance Center, performed with Shakira, Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Maluma, and Daddy Yankee, principal dancer and choreographer on Univision's Mira Quién Baila); Maria Bustos (burlesque, ballroom, latin, and club styles); Alejandro Restrepo (reggaeton, hip hop, house); Timia Williams (heels and hip hop styles); Mirando Atemici (hip hop, Afrobeats, dancehall); Dantrielle Divine (Afrobeats and hip hop, extensive theatrical performance background from Las Vegas); Monica Llobet (three-time World Argentine Tango Champion, founder of Alma de Tango, hosted prestigious events at venues like the Ritz-Carlton and Biltmore Hotel); Jorge Avila (Peruvian professional dancer with over 10 years of experience, trained at Ballet Municipal of Trujillo, Ballet Nacional del Perú, and Dactilares Contemporary Dance School); Alessandro Coppa (Italian professional Salsa and Bachata instructor); and Pooja Uberoi (globally recognized Bollywood dance director and choreographer, founder of Ikigaiusa).

The studio teaches ballroom and Latin using the Dance Vision Syllabus, officially recognized by the NDCA (National Dance Council of America), Canadian Dancesport Federation, Russia WDSF (World Dancesport Federation), WDO (World Dancesport Organization), USA Dance, and Global Smooth Systems. Classes progress to full bronze level in both International and American styles.

The faculty includes specialist instructors across ballroom, Latin, hip hop, contemporary, jazz, Afrobeats, Argentine tango, and more, many with competition titles, Broadway or Las Vegas performance credits, and international competition experience.

Studio history

DanceArts Miami was founded by Dmitry Krasnyanskiy and Esther Francés, two professional ballroom and Latin dancers based in South Florida. Dmitry, born in Moscow, is a former Russian Championship finalist and World Championship competitor who became a 2003 International Dance Union World Champion. Esther, born in Houston and raised in Florida and Alabama, studied classical ballet and piano for over 20 years and earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami. Both continue to compete internationally in American Ballroom Smooth while teaching and inspiring students at the studio.
