About this studio
DF Dance Studio has been serving Salt Lake City's adult dance community since 2008. Located at 2978 S State St in South Salt Lake, the studio specializes in beginner-friendly group classes and private lessons across multiple partner dance styles: Salsa, Bachata, West Coast Swing, Country Swing, Ballroom, and more. The studio is intentionally built around adult learners—most new students start with zero experience, and the teaching philosophy centers on clear step-by-step progression, body mechanics, and building real partnership.
The class structure is designed for accessibility. New students begin with an Intro class or a 3-hour Bootcamp before moving into Level 1, where they train for roughly 10–12 classes before advancing. No partner is required for group classes; the studio rotates partners to help beginners learn faster and build social confidence. Pricing ranges from $25 for a single intro class to $99–$119 per month for unlimited beginner membership (depending on dance role), with options like a 10-class pack at $15 per class and single bootcamps at $60.
Founded by Maria Ivanova, a Salsa On2 educator since 2005 and West Coast Swing Competitive All-Star, the studio emphasizes community alongside instruction. Weekly Friday socials run in two formats: Latin Socials (2nd & 4th Friday) offer beginner-friendly Salsa, Bachata, and Cumbia in three rooms, while WestieHive (1st & 3rd Friday) is the West Coast Swing social. Both include a beginner class before social dancing. Lead instructors include Lindsay N. (Salsa Team Director, teaching since 2008), Ridicia L. (Salsa On2 specialist with international competition and performance experience), Barbara M. (Salsa, Bachata, Flamenco with 1st place results at The Summit Championship and Las Vegas Ultimate Dance Competition 2025), Yuka F. (Ballroom and Bachata coach with a BS in Dance from UVU, teaching since 2023), Marvin S. (Bachata and BachaZouk specialist), and Byron F. (Bachata and Salsa instructor).
The studio also offers wedding dance lessons for couples preparing their first dance, private ballroom coaching for faster progress and flexible scheduling, dance teams in Salsa & Bachata and Ballroom, and specialty workshops in styling, sensual movement, and technique. Classes typically occur most days of the week with an easy-to-navigate online schedule and pre-registration required. Students consistently highlight the welcoming atmosphere, clear teaching, and strong sense of community; the studio holds a 4.8 Google rating across 391 reviews.

Studio history
DF Dance Studio opened in 2008 with the goal of making social dancing more approachable for adults while offering serious coaching and clear progress paths. Founder Maria Ivanova was one of the first people to bring New York Style Salsa to Utah and has been a driving force in the state's social dance community ever since, training across multiple partner dance styles including Argentine Tango and Salsa On2 before shifting her competitive and coaching focus to West Coast Swing in 2019. Today the studio serves beginners, social dancers, wedding couples, performers, teams, and students looking for long-term development in a supportive adult dance community.
