Nebraska Dance Central opened its doors in January 2001 when founder Stephanie Pearson saw a vision to bring high-quality dance education to the Omaha metro area. What began as a single studio with 3 staff members has grown into 3 locations across Omaha — Central (11426 Davenport Street), West (18039 R Plaza), and Lighthouse (11212 Chicago Circle) — with 16 studios total and over 60 dedicated staff members.
Classes are organized by age and skill level. The youngest dancers start in Peanuts (18 months–2 years), learning creative movement and introducing dance in a studio setting. Tinys (3–4 years) explore rhythm and technique through classes like Lovely Little Ladies, Tiny Hip Hop/Pom, Tiny Jazz/Acro, and Tiny Tap. Minis (5 years–1st grade) expand their movement vocabulary across Mini Acro, Mini Ballet, Mini Ballet/Tap, Mini Crew Jazz, Mini Hip Hop, Mini Jazz/Tap, Mini Musical Theater, Mini Pom & Cheer, and Mini Tap.
For older students, the studio offers Track A (2nd–3rd grade), Track B (4th–6th grade), Track C (6th–8th grade), and Track D (9th–12th grade), each with diverse class offerings including Ballet, Acro, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap, Hip Hop, Clogging, Pointe/Pre-Pointe, Musical Theater, Crew styles, and Pom & Cheer. Concert classes run September through May and perform a piece in the Spring Concert. The studio also offers adult dance classes and runs special programs including Birthday Parties, a Boutique Ballet programme, and Hearts In Motion alumni engagement.
The studio operates across four main sessions: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer, with registration opening for each. Back to Dance Night (held at Central/Lighthouse on September 1st and West on September 3rd) welcomes returning and new dancers, while a Program Expo in April is geared towards dancers new to Nebraska Dance, those new to specific programmes, or interested in switching tracks.
The studio has been recognised as 'Best of Omaha' for over 10 years. Nebraska Dance's mission is to provide quality instruction in a positive and encouraging atmosphere, helping students achieve their highest aptitude based on their individual desires, commitment, and determination through unique dance opportunities.
What to expect
Your first visit
Classes are organised by age and level across three Omaha locations. Back to Dance Night welcomes new and returning dancers; office hours are Monday–Friday 3:15–7:30 p.m. Central. Registration opens for each session (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer).
