About this studio
Global Dance Centre is the Netherlands' largest urban dance school, with locations in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The Rotterdam studio sits at Stationsplein 45, operating six days a week with more than 250 lessons per week across both locations. You can study hiphop, streetdance, jazz, Afrodance, modern, breakdance, heels, and more—15 styles in total—with classes for ages 4 and up.
The school teaches at all levels, from general orientation classes for young children through to advanced programmes. Younger students (ages 4–6) start with general dance formation in styles like popshow dance and streetdance/Afrodance. As you progress, you move into age-specific and level-specific tracks: beginners, intermediate, and advanced hiphop; specialised classes in Afrodance, commercial, jazz, ballet, and dancehall; and the All Stars Academy—an audition-based programme for intermediate and advanced dancers aged 7–17 that includes vocal performance, fittraining, and intensive performance classes.
The teaching staff spans both locations and includes specialists: Ismene de Jong and Valencio Hyman teach hiphop and streetdance in Rotterdam; Merel Wieberdink teaches hiphop and commercial; and Neusa Edmundo covers commercial. Guest teachers and international workshop leaders regularly visit. The school runs a full annual calendar of shows: an end-of-year production called FUTURE at Theater de Omval in Diemen (May 2026, ages 4–11), Theater Zuidplein in Rotterdam (June 2026), and Paradiso Amsterdam (June 2026, ages 12+). Members also get access to masterclasses, guest classes, and performances. With one subscription, you can dance at all GDC locations.
GDC holds classes year-round except national holidays, with adjusted summer schedules in July and August. The school reserves the right to close for six weeks annually. Missed lessons during closures can be made up within two weeks before or after the closure. The studio is described as a breeding ground for talent development in the Dutch dance scene, attracting dancers from across the country.
